Customer Questions:
“Do I need to mark the timing position when removing this fuel injection pump?”

In most cases, no manual timing marks are required when removing and refitting this fuel injection pump. The pump drive hub is fitted with a small locating peg (Grosvenor pin) which ensures the pump can only be installed in one correct position. As long as you are careful when removing the old pump and do not damage or dislodge this locating peg, the replacement pump will automatically align to the correct timing position when refitted. This makes installation much easier and helps prevent common timing errors. However, it is still good practice to take note of the pumps position as you take the old one off. If the locating peg is missing or damaged, timing will need to be set manually using the workshop manual as a guide.
