86K1191 is a UK manufactured connecting rod bolt for a wide range of BMC and Leyland diesel engines.
Con rod bolts are amongst the most highly stressed fasteners within an engine, securing the connecting rod cap to the connecting rod itself. Manufactured to the correct specification, this bolt is designed for use with con rod 86K1093 and provides the strength and reliability required in this demanding application.
This bolt measures 62 mm from under the head and supersedes the earlier 37D3178 part number.
Please check your existing connecting rod bolt before ordering.
Some later Marshall tractors were fitted with the alternative 96K639 connecting rod bolt, which measures 55 mm under the head.
If you are unsure which bolt your engine requires, please email us before ordering and we will be happy to help identify the correct part.

Connecting rod bolts operate under extremely high loads and are among the most highly stressed fasteners within any engine. They are responsible for securely clamping the connecting rod cap to the connecting rod while withstanding the enormous forces generated during every engine revolution.
For this reason, connecting rod bolts should always be carefully inspected during an engine rebuild. Bolts that show signs of stretching, thread damage or corrosion should be replaced to help maintain the integrity of the connecting rod assembly.
This 86K1191 bolt is designed for use with connecting rod 86K1093 and measures 62 mm under the head. It supersedes the earlier 37D3178 part number.
Some later Marshall tractors were fitted with the shorter 96K639 connecting rod bolt, measuring 55 mm under the head. As both types have been used, it is important to compare your existing bolt before ordering.
Manufactured in the United Kingdom, this bolt has been produced to provide the quality, strength and dimensional accuracy required for classic BMC and Leyland engine rebuilds.
We specialise in supplying quality replacement engine components for classic Nuffield, Leyland and Marshall tractors, together with selected industrial and marine applications, helping to keep these iconic British-built engines operating reliably for generations to come.
