You can fit the core plug by first cleaning out the hole and ensuring that it is clean and free of any debris. Sometimes the outer ring of the old core plug can be left in there, so ensure this is not the case. Offer up the new core plug, and gently tap it into place using a suitable sized socket as a guide and ensuring that it goes in straight. If you are unsure about the condition of the engine block then you can use a small smear of suitable sealant such as BondLoc B270
