Marshall 702 Brake Parts

When operating your Marshall 702, or Leyland 702 tractor, the brakes should be one of the highest priorities in your restoration project. Springs, cylinder, pipes and friction plates must all be in tip-top condition to keep everyone safe and help you work as efficiently as possible. With the Marshall 702 tractor having wet brakes, when it is fitted with the Sekura Explorer cab, these brakes are an improved version of the dry Leyland brakes. These wet system brakes tend to cause little problems, but the brake discs and intermediate discs do wear over time. Check out the specifications for thickness for both the brake discs and intermediate discs which are listed on the products details of each product. You should check the thickness of each of your discs and add the total up. If it is less than tolerance then this could be your problem if you have run out of adjustment. Sometimes putting an extra intermediate disc in there can help bring it back into tolerance and allow you adjustment. This is a quick, cheap and easy fix for the Marshall wet brakes.
In order to ensure that our customers get the best possible experience, our Marshall 702 specialists work hard to build upon the original standards of our products. We re-manufactured spares to their original standards and offer a wide range of parts for the Marshall 702 tractor, as well as the Leyland 702 tractor which is the model which was produced on the changeover point when Leyland was purchased and became Marshall. These Leyland 702 models were only made for a few months, but as a result of this they are very desirable tractors and can make more money than their Marshall 702 counterparts. However, during this cross-over period there were changes in many components from the Leyland quiet cab models to the Marshall Sekura Explorer models, and therefore if you own a Leyland 702 and you are not sure what you need then please do not hesitate to give us a call and we can talk you through the parts that you need for your tractor.
When performing work on the braking system, you can find everything that you need in our range, from small features like our handbrake springs to larger parts such as our brake actuators. Master cylinders and slave cylinders are important components of the braking system, with there being two of each on the brake system. The cylinders are known to corrode on the inside due to water in the brake fluid (See our blog on Leyland brakes here – Part 2 covers brake fluid) and this can cause corrosion at the bottom of the cylinders which in turn can cause leakage and a reduction in the efficiency of the brakes.
