27H3503 Brake Actuator Spring

27H3503 is a replacement brake actuator spring for selected Nuffield, Leyland and Marshall tractors fitted with dry brake disc braking systems. These springs play an important role within the brake actuator, helping to return the mechanism to its correct position and ensuring smooth, consistent brake operation.

As the springs are continually compressed and released during braking, they can weaken over time. Replacing worn springs during a brake overhaul helps restore the correct operation of the brake actuator and can improve braking performance.

Why Replace the Brake Actuator Springs?

  • Direct replacement for the original brake actuator springs
  • Helps restore correct brake actuator operation
  • Ideal when rebuilding or servicing the brake actuator
  • Recommended whenever brake discs or brake actuators are replaced
  • Helps maintain smooth, progressive braking performance

Fitted to the following tractors with differing numbers of springs per actuator:

Technical Notes

The brake actuator springs work together with the brake actuator balls to allow the brake mechanism to operate smoothly and progressively. As these components wear, the movement of the actuator can become inconsistent, increasing the likelihood of poor brake operation or brakes that grab during use.

For this reason, we recommend replacing the brake actuator balls whenever the springs are renewed. Renewing both components together helps restore the correct operation of the brake actuator and reduces the risk of the brakes grabbing or locking during operation.

If the brake actuator itself is cracked, excessively worn or damaged, replacing the springs alone may not resolve the problem. In these cases, the complete brake actuator should also be inspected and replaced if necessary.
