Marshall 604 Filters

Leyland engines, such as the Leyland 4/98 engine in the Marshall 604 tractor, can be susceptible to damage when exposed to dirt and other particulate matter. Therefore, robust engine filters are required to prevent abrasive contaminants to protect the engine and maintain high performance. A typical diesel engine features oil filters, fuel filters and air filters, which should all be checked and changed out as part of your 6-monthly/yearly maintenance schedule. It is a great idea to put dates on the filters themselves so that you know when they have been changed. This is possible with the metal canisters where the metal stays exposed and not inserted into a filter housing. This is something that we do on our own tractors and it makes it easy to see when it was last serviced.
There is also the hydraulic system on these Marshall 604 or Leyland 604 tractors which are often neglected in terms of the filtration side of things. When hydraulic problems arise, the first things that we suggest is that the filters are looked at. Because there are multiple filters in the hydraulic system, we often find that one is replaced, but often the high pressure filter in the hydraulic system is not replaced. This can cause dirt to penetrate the hydraulic pump and cause problems. So keeping the filters regularly serviced is a cheap way of keeping your hydraulics in top condition.
Oil filters keep engine oil clean by extracting particles, such as soot, from the burning fuel and metal contaminants. When these aren’t working properly, contaminants can build up leading to reduced oil pressure and wear of major components such as bearings, cranks, and the camshaft. Therefore filters are a quick, cheap and easy way of keeping your engine, and your tractor, in top working condition to prevent having to do a full engine rebuild, or to pay for a costly new fuel injection pump.
Fuel filters clean the fuel in a diesel engine to prevent damage to components by abrasive particles. Insufficient filtration of fuel can lead to a number of problems including poor starting, increased fuel consumption and reduced engine power. Effective fuel filtration will prevent abrasive wear of fuel injectors and corrosion of sensitive components.
Air filters are essential for preventing dust from entering the engine and causing irreversible damage. A blockage in your engine's air filter can lead to reduced engine power, increased fuel consumption and a build-up of carbon deposits on components. Inefficient filtering can also cause damage to parts such as piston rings and valves.
Here at Tractor Spare Parts Ltd, we stock a wide range of Marshall 604 engine and hydraulic system filters to help you maintain performance and prevent irreparable damage to your engine.
