The 17H172V Fuel Tap Seal is manufactured from Viton and is a replacement for the original cork seal fitted to the fuel taps on selected Nuffield petrol and TVO tractors. Viton seals do not swell with exposure to petrol like the original cork seals and are more suited to the Petrol applications.
Please note that these viton seals can be used on the diesel models to replace the cork ones if you wish.Â
The seal fits inside the fuel tap, between the rotating spindle and tap body, helping to prevent fuel leaks while allowing the fuel supply to be turned on and off.
Over time, the original seal can dry out, wear or become damaged, resulting in fuel weeping from the tap. Replacing the seal is often all that is required to restore the tap to good working order.

The original Nuffield fuel sediment bowl assembly incorporates a manually operated fuel shut-off tap. Inside this tap is a seal that compresses against the tap body to prevent fuel escaping while still allowing the tap to be operated.
After many years of service, the seal can dry out, shrink or wear, causing fuel to seep from around the tap spindle. In many cases, replacing the seal will restore the tap and eliminate the leak.
However, if the tap body or spindle has become excessively worn, replacing the seal alone may not completely cure the problem. In these cases, many owners choose our ATJ3097 Improved Fuel Sediment Bowl Assembly, which eliminates the fuel tap altogether and removes one of the most common sources of fuel weeping on these tractors.
When servicing the original sediment bowl assembly, it is also good practice to inspect the glass bowl (27H2268), glass bowl gasket (27H1330) and fuel sediment bowl filter (27H2272), replacing any worn or damaged components as necessary.
